What was your favorite song as a child?
I knew all the words to Whitney Houston's Greatest Love of All + even invited all the neighbors over so I could sing it to them! ;)
But the songs that have touched my heart lately from my childhood are the epic super-celebrity recording of We Are the World + We All Sing With the Same Voice from Sesame Street.
From a very young age, I was touched by the themes of Unity, Diversity, + Togetherness.
And these themes went into my recent book, Retreat Recipes for Yoga Lovers, which features different cultural recipes from around the world.
I also made an effort to include more diverse voices + images in my book, as changing the media is so important in these times.
What were your favorite songs as a child? Can you see how these themes/ ideas have impacted you now?
Reply + let me know! ;)
When I was at Agape yesterday, Rickie Byars Beckwith sung a beautiful song called Genesis, which was also all about this theme of going "back to the beginning." (Yes, I'm in a New Age Gospel Choir. ;)) "I was spinning around till I finally found, that part of me that was always free." Ahhh, so good!
