Wow! Yesterday was quite a day. It was so uplifting for me to lovestream parts of the D.C. Women's March. It feels like the whole energy around the election/ inauguration has shifted. And the power is back in our hands.
I've been doing lots of visioning around 2017 with my Leonie Dawson Shining Life Workbooks (they're 50% off right now, btw), and was reflecting that I've had the privilege of meeting so many of my mentors in person!
India Arie (at a private CD release party), Erykah Badu (at Sage Vegan Restaurant in LA), Marianne Williamson (at her talks in Beverly Hills), SARK (at a booksigning), Doreen Virtue (booksigning too!), Sabrina Ward Harrison (in her bedroom at a private birthday party!), Katherine Woodward Thomas (in the audience of Marianne Williamson), Danielle La Porte (at Super Soul Sessions), and the list goes on!
I've been able to hand, personally, copies of my book, Open-Eyed Heart-Wide Haggadah, to: Wayne Dyer (at an I Can Do It Conference), Mayim Bialik (at a Women's Red Tent event), Alicia Silverstone (well, I mailed her one + then we met at Expo West!) + even passed along a copy to Bernie + Jane Sanders through Jane Sanders' daughter, who's in the yoga community.
Some of the luminaries I've had the privilege to do business with are: Shiva Rea, Kris Carr, David Wolfe.
I'm not saying this to brag, but to let you know that anything is possible! Writing down our dreams has Power!
And now, more than ever, WE are being called to be the LEADERS we have been looking up to. The Future is in Our Hands.
Which leads me to a fun story. I was volunteering for the beloved feminist bookstore, Charis Books + More, in Atlanta. I had been volunteering once a week, and they called me up + asked me if I had a car. They needed to deliver books to a nearby hotel, for an Eve Ensler event. They were Eve's books that she needed to sign. I was given the instructions to drop them off at the front desk.
Needless to say, I accepted the fun duty, + drove over to the hotel. When I arrived, I told the hotel clerk I was here to drop books off for Eve Ensler. He called up to her room, + she instructed him to send me up! (OMGODDESS!!!) I was being sent up to Eve Ensler's hotel room! I nearly had a heart attack! ;))
So, sweaty palms, I pressed the button in the elevator + went up. I found her room + knocked on the door. And she graciously answered, we chatted, + I handed her the books! (This was about 10 years ago!!)
Quite a moment, and it all started from me volunteering for a nonprofit I loved and believed in (the feminist bookstore).
